At Kirkton House®, we believe that a house is not just a building, but a home filled with comfort, style, and memories. For over 15 years, we have been dedicated to bringing high-quality home essentials like cookware, bedding, and home decor to families across the country.
Our Story

It all started in a small cottage in the village of Kirkton in the Scottish Highlands. Our founder, Angus McTavish, grew up in this quaint little stone cottage helping his mother cook delicious stews in cast iron pots and sleeping under homemade quilts sewn by his grandmother. Angus always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and after traveling around the world, he realized that the traditional cooking methods and cozy bedding of his childhood were hard to find in modern households.
In 1987, Angus decided to launch Kirkton House to share his childhood home comforts with the world. We started off selling cast iron cookware handmade by Scottish blacksmiths and lovely Scottish-inspired bed linens. Our little cottage business soon took off, and we expanded our offerings to include kitchen tools, ceramic dinnerware, mattresses, and more.
Three decades later, the Kirkton House brand has grown into a leading retailer of homewares, but we’ve never forgotten our humble beginnings in that little stone cottage. Our company is still based in Scotland, where we carefully handpick our timeless collections of cooking, dining, and bedroom essentials. Everything we sell evokes the warmth and comfort that Angus experienced growing up in the village of Kirkton.
Our Values
At Kirkton House, we are committed to more than just selling quality products. We strive to be a company with integrity that benefits our customers, employees, and community.
Quality is our top priority. From stovetop to bedside, we sell only durable products made from natural, ethically sourced materials built to last for years.
We are dedicated to service and make every effort to ensure our customers have an excellent shopping experience. Our customer service team is ready to assist you every step of the way.
The community is important to us. We are proud to work with local family-owned suppliers and artisans to source many of our products. We also donate a portion of our profits to provide beds and bedding to children in need.
Sustainability is integral to our business. Our cast iron cookware is handmade by artisans using centuries-old techniques, and our stoneware is fired in energy-efficient kilns. Much of our wood furniture and bed frames are crafted from reclaimed wood.
No matter how much we grow, we remain committed to bringing joy, comfort, and family traditions into homes while making a positive impact on our world.

Our Heritage
Kirkton House celebrates the warmth and comfort of traditional Scottish homelife. Our collections reflect the rich cultural heritage of our founder’s beloved hometown.
Tartan Plaids
You’ll see classic tartan patterns incorporated into many of our textile products. These distinctive criss-crossed designs have been used for Scottish kilts and cloth since the 16th century. We showcase tartans in throw blankets, bedding, table runners, and home decor.
Tweeds & Knits
Tweeds are wool fabrics woven in a thick twill pattern. Tweed clothing kept early Scottish shepherds warm in the hillsides. You’ll find tweed accents on our pillows, poufs, and baskets. We also use traditional Fair Isle knitting patterns on our throws and sleep socks.
Celtic Knots
Celtic knots, crosses, and spirals were common motifs in medieval Scottish art. Our ceramic dinnerware, cast iron pots, and wood items incorporate these ornate interlaced designs. They represent the continuity of life.
Thistles
The thistle is Scotland’s national emblem. Our founder Angus chose it to symbolize the country’s resilience. You’ll see thistles on our bedding, dishware, and apparel. Just like thistles thriving in harsh highland climates, Scots persevere.
Highland Cattle
The iconic shaggy Highland cow graces many of our home decor items and textiles. These hearty cattle with long horns and wavy coats have lived in the rugged Scottish Highlands for centuries.
With every purchase, you bring the spirit of old Scotland into your home. From our kitchen tools to bedroom textiles, every item celebrates the unique heritage of Kirkton Village and people.
